The Script Record is a different take on the traditional CBT thought record. It’s designed to help clients recognise and challenge the influence of their inner critic, what I refer to as the script.
This tool invites a quick check-in when clients notice unhelpful thinking. By writing this down regularly, clients learn to distinguish their own voice from the script’s automatic messages. The goal isn’t to fight the script, but to recognise it and practise choosing a different response.
